Privacy Policy

This page explains, in plain language, what DocNectar collects when you use its tools, why, how long it's kept, and what choices you have. DocNectar is built around not needing an account for anything — that principle shapes almost everything below.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

• Calculator inputs — whatever you type into a tool to get a result (e.g. numbers, dates, text).
• Document data — the content of anything you generate (an invoice, a resume, a contract), stored so the resulting file can be rendered and re-downloaded.
• Contact form details — your name, email address, category and message when you use the Contact page.
• Newsletter email — only if you explicitly subscribe via the footer form.

Technical information

• IP address — used to rate-limit abuse (e.g. automated bulk requests), and stored against contact form submissions and against our internal broken-link (404) monitor. It is not logged against every ordinary page view or tool use.
• Browser user agent and referrer — stored only when you land on a broken/missing URL, so we can identify and fix dead links.

2. How We Use Your Data

Whatever is collected above is used only to:

• Produce the calculation, conversion or document you asked for.
• Let you revisit your own recently generated documents.
• Reply to a message you sent through the Contact page.
• Send the newsletter, only if you subscribed to it.
• Prevent automated abuse of the tools (rate limiting).
• Find and fix broken links on the site.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it to build an advertising profile of you.

3. Cookies

DocNectar uses a small number of cookies, all functional rather than for advertising:

• Session cookie — a standard, short-lived cookie (expires after about two hours of inactivity) that keeps basic site functionality working during your visit.
• Security cookie (CSRF token) — protects forms on the site (like the contact form and newsletter signup) from being submitted by malicious third-party sites on your behalf. Standard practice for any modern web application.
• Guest identity cookie (docnectar_session) — a random, anonymous identifier, kept for an extended period (up to around five years), so documents you generate and tools you favorite stay linked to your browser across visits without requiring an account.

We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not use cookies for cross-site tracking. There's no "preference" cookie either — theme and other preferences are kept in your browser's local storage instead, covered next.

4. Local Storage

Separately from cookies, your browser's local storage (data that never leaves your device or gets sent to our servers) is used for:

• Theme preference — whether you're using light or dark mode.
• Recently viewed tools — a short list (up to 8) of tools you've recently opened, so you can quickly get back to them.
• Favorites — tools you've starred, entirely on your device.

None of this is transmitted to DocNectar's servers or visible to us — it lives only in your browser.

5. Third-Party Services

Running the site involves a small number of other companies, listed here for transparency:

• Hosting provider — the infrastructure that serves this website and stores the data described above.
• Email delivery — contact form replies and newsletter emails are sent through a third-party SMTP email service, which necessarily processes the message content and your email address to deliver it.
• Google Analytics and Google AdSense — the site has built-in, optional support for both (see the next section for whether they're currently active).

We do not use any other analytics, advertising, or tracking service beyond what's listed here.

6. Advertising & Analytics

This section reflects DocNectar's actual, current configuration rather than a fixed statement — if either service is switched on in the future, this page updates to say so automatically.

7. Data Retention

DocNectar does not currently run any automatic deletion of old data — generated documents, contact messages, and usage history are kept indefinitely unless removed. You can delete your own generated documents yourself at any time, and you can request deletion of any other data linked to you (see Your Rights below) by contacting us — we'll handle it manually.

8. Your Rights

Regardless of where you're located, you can:

• Request deletion of any data linked to you or your browser session.
• Request a copy of the data we hold that's linked to you.
• Ask questions about anything on this page or how a specific tool handles your input.
• Opt out of the newsletter — email us and we'll remove your address (there's no bulk marketing list beyond this single opt-in newsletter).

9. Children's Privacy

DocNectar is not directed toward children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. International Users

DocNectar is available worldwide. Your data may be processed on servers operated by our hosting and email-delivery providers, which may be located in a different country from your own. By using the site, you consent to this processing.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes become effective immediately after publication, and the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision.
